The Fire is Here

There is a popular resurgeance of the missattributed Gramsci quote "Il vecchio mondo sta morendo. Quello nuovo tarda a comparire. E in questo chiaroscuro nascono i mostri," roughly meaning: "The old world is dying; the new world struggles to be born. Now is the time of monsters." Despite Gramsci never having written this (instead writing "In questo interregno si verificano i fenomeni morbosi più svariati," meaning "In this interregnum a great variety of morbid symptoms appear," which as Philip Oltermann noted in The Guardian, is not quite as pithy), it has never felt more true in this time. Indeed, there is a perpetual ouroboreality to the death of the old and the struggle of the new, however there are certain times where upon causal historistic interrogation the era pertinent and paradigmatic to the construction of the new world---philosophies, governance, science and all---makes itself known by shouting "Now is the time for the new!" wherein historians and social theorists gather 'round to read and write the autopsy of old worlds.

The internet jokingly mentions it is my ideology which shall rise from the ashes of the old world!

In an earlier blog entry I spoke about the fallen sun. The fire that it brings.
